Notes from the President
How nice it is that we are now in the season for better golfing conditions. Let’s hope we have seen the back of that cold north easterly wind which prevents us from getting out the summer clothing!
By now, most of you will have had a chance to see the exhibition banners showing the proposed new clubhouse. I am very keen that we should all use our best endeavours to achieve this project. It would be wonderful to secure the future of our special club for our children and grandchildren, so they too, can enjoy the course and the social events as we all have done. I feel it is important, that when the time is right, we should all consider asking our friends and families to contact the Council Planning Department in support of our new clubhouse. The facilities will benefit not only the local area but Herne Bay too, who have tragically lost their course to be sold for building more houses.
On a sad note, I like many other members from the club, recently attended the funeral of one of our past Captains, Eric Bean. It was good to see a serving Royal Marine Bugler there to play at both the church and the
crematorium. A fitting farewell to Eric who will be sadly missed by friends and family.
