Message from the President
Hello everyone and welcome to 2017. Firstly I would like to wish you all a happy and prosperous new year.
We are very fortunate this winter, as so far the course has stood up remarkably well. This is partly due to the forward thinking of the greens committee although a huge part is down to the weather. I would also say that more understanding is also showing through with regards to trolleys and buggies, which is very much appreciated by the Members. So thanks go to those who make key decisions, from me and on behalf of the membership.
I thought the hard work put in by the Social committee paid dividends during the festive season in particular the Children’s Christmas party. I would especially like to thank our new lady captain Maureen and the new Vice captain Sue Pout for their hard work on the day, not forgetting all the helpers and the wonderful Cup Cakes made by Mrs Fowler. I would say that some of the children were a bit confused when the Mousse/Reindeer removed his head in front of them… Well we seem to have our very own serial Father Christmas who has made this role his own. (All the future Vice Captains are breathing a sigh of relief), so thank you Michael you helped to make the children’s Christmas memorable. Maureen, well-done with the little torches a touch of inspiration I think! On a final note thank you to Shirley for decorating the Clubhouse along with her helpers.
The New Year also didn’t come up short with a great band and dancing that went into the small hours. A good time was had by all. Keep up the good work everyone and keep supporting the events put on by the social side, I am sure that when you read on further in the tidings, future events will be listed by Gary and Howard.
On a more serious note, as you know, we are about to make very important decisions in this forthcoming year for our Club. So please keep a look out on notice boards for any revised drawings for the new clubhouse received from our architect, which we will be proposing for presentation to the planners at Canterbury council. We encourage your input for any suggestions, but please understand that we will never be able to please everyone. We have to consider all aspects but mainly making it affordable and most importantly, that the design works for our club…
Happy golfing everyone for 2017.
Kind regards, John
